This policy explains how WSAPP, Inc. handles personal information when you use the webscraping.app tools directory, its directory accounts, forms and email subscriptions. It does not cover separate applications or the independent tools listed in the directory.

You can browse the directory without creating an account. Providing information for an optional feature is your choice; we need the relevant information to provide that feature. Reading this policy does not itself give consent to analytics or marketing.

Information we collect and why

Directory accounts: when you sign in by email, we use your email address to send a sign-in link and maintain your session. Directory accounts are separate from accounts for other applications.
Tool submissions and messages: we process the tool details, contact information and messages you provide when submitting a listing, reporting a problem or contacting us. Information intended for a tool listing may be published. Contact details supplied for correspondence are not part of the public listing.
Email subscriptions: we use your email address and subscription or consent records to send the updates you request. Newsletter signup uses an email confirmation step. You can unsubscribe using the instructions in an email or contact us to stop a subscription.
Website requests and diagnostics: hosting, security and monitoring systems process information such as IP addresses, request URLs, timestamps, browser information and error details to deliver the website, limit abuse and diagnose problems. Please avoid including sensitive information in URLs or messages unless needed for your request.
Tool popularity: when you follow a tool's external link, we add one to that tool's aggregate click count to order directory listings. We do not store an individual click history or visitor identifier in this counter. Requests are rate-limited to protect the count from abuse.
Optional analytics: with measurement consent, PostHog processes page views, interactions, referral information and pseudonymous identifiers. Some events may be associated with your directory account when you sign in. These identifiers are not necessarily anonymous.

Legal bases

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

Providing a requested service: processing needed to create and maintain your directory account and handle a listing you submit.
Legitimate interests: running and securing the directory, reviewing submissions, responding to messages and diagnosing errors. We consider your rights when relying on these interests; you can object to this processing.
Consent: optional measurement and email marketing where consent is required. You can withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Legal obligations: retaining information or responding to requests where the law requires us to do so.

Cookies and analytics choices

We use necessary cookies or browser storage for sign-in sessions and to remember privacy preferences. Other preferences, such as your selected theme, may also be stored in your browser.

PostHog measurement is gated by your consent. You can review or withdraw it through Cookie preferences in the website footer. Declining optional measurement does not prevent you from browsing the directory. Essential hosting, security and error diagnostics are separate from optional analytics.

We use providers for database hosting, website delivery, media storage, email, analytics and diagnostics. The Subprocessors page explains their roles and identifies integrations used only for specific features.

Some tool icons load directly from Google's favicon service. When your browser requests one, Google receives your IP address, browser request information and the tool website domain. Google is not used for directory sign-in.

Optional editorial AI tools process content selected by an editor through the configured AI provider. They do not automatically receive every visitor's account or form submission.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to address fraud, security incidents or legal claims. If the directory changes ownership, relevant records may transfer with it, subject to applicable data-protection requirements.

The directory database is hosted in Germany. Some providers may process information in other countries, including the United States. Where required, international transfers rely on applicable safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

How long we keep information

Retention depends on the purpose of the record:

Account and session information is kept as needed to operate the account, maintain valid sessions and address security issues.
Submissions, reports and correspondence are kept as needed to review the listing, respond to you and handle follow-up issues. Published directory content may remain after correspondence ends.
Subscription information is kept while a subscription is active. Limited consent or suppression records may be retained to document your choices and avoid sending unwanted messages.
Request logs, diagnostic events and analytics are retained according to the relevant service configuration and the time needed for security, troubleshooting or measurement.

We do not keep personal information longer than necessary for these purposes. You can contact us to request deletion or ask about the retention period for a particular record. Legal obligations or unresolved claims may require us to retain some information.

Your rights and choices

Depending on the law that applies, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information, restriction of processing, or a portable copy. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for processing based on consent. You may also complain to the competent data-protection authority.

Where California privacy law applies, you may have rights to know, delete or correct information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Security and external websites

We use access controls and other safeguards to protect information. Keep sign-in links private and secure the email account you use to sign in. No website or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

Links to listed tools lead to independent websites with their own privacy practices. This policy does not govern what those websites collect after you visit them.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when our directory privacy practices change and provide additional notice where required. The date above identifies the latest revision.
